Social Media & Marketing Intern

The Social Media & Marketing Intern works alongside our marketing team to learn social media strategy, content creation, and digital marketing from the inside. This is a supervised, hands-on learning experience tied to your academic program—designed to build real skills and a professional portfolio in a working studio environment.

This role is built around your development. You will go through structured onboarding, bi-weekly one-on-one sessions with your supervisor, and a portfolio review at the end of your term. All work you produce is reviewed before any use—expect feedback, revisions, and rework as part of the process. The learning comes first.

Type: Unpaid Internship — a written Internship Agreement confirming unpaid status and learning objectives will be signed by both parties prior to the start date

Duration: 10–12 weeks, aligned with a standard academic semester | 10–15 hours per week

Reports To: Social Media Manager

Academic Credit: Kidcreate Studio will provide all required supervisor letters and evaluations

University Partnership: Kidcreate Studio welcomes formal academic field placement arrangements; we will work directly with your institution’s internship coordinator to satisfy program requirements

This is an unpaid internship. There is no guarantee of a paid position afterward. By applying, you confirm you understand and accept those terms.

Academic & University Partnerships: If your school requires a formal field placement agreement, faculty supervisor, or academic assessments, we’ll work with your program coordinator directly to make it happen. Formal academic placements are our preferred arrangement—they give the experience a stronger structure for everyone involved.

Let us know at the time of application if you’re coming through a university program. We’ll provide a signed learning agreement, written evaluations for your school, check-ins with your faculty liaison if needed, and full documentation of your hours and objectives.

What You’ll Learn: By the end of this internship, you’ll have portfolio-ready experience in:
-Social media content strategy—how to plan, create, and schedule content across multiple platforms
-Short-form video production—shooting, editing, and assembling Reels and TikTok-style content
-Brand management—working within established guidelines to produce consistent, on-brand materials
-Digital asset organization—managing content libraries and tagging systems using professional DAM tools
-Marketing analytics—tracking performance metrics and drawing actionable insights from data
-Graphic design—creating social graphics, story templates, and marketing materials in Canva
-Cross-functional collaboration—working within a real marketing team alongside multiple stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications: You’re currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or something related. If your program offers academic credit or a formal placement, we’ll fully support it. You should also bring:
-Photography and video recording skills suited to dynamic, real-world environments
-Video editing—able to assemble and refine footage into draft content
-Canva—experienced in designing graphics, social posts, stories, and marketing materials
-Google Workspace proficiency (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
-Strong eye for aesthetics, storytelling, and current social media trends
-Organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and a self-starter
-Must pass a criminal background study prior to beginning

Primary Responsibilities: Everything you produce goes through a review-and-revision cycle before any use. You won’t publish independently, manage brand accounts, or speak on behalf of the company.

Content Creation (Practice & Drafting)
-
Join paid staff at Kidcreate Studio locations to observe classes and practice photographing and recording with your supervisor’s guidance
-Draft Reels, TikTok-style videos, and graphics—plan on multiple rounds of feedback before anything is considered finished
-Practice editing photo and video to brand standards; this is a learning exercise, not a production task
-Observe how content gets scheduled and published alongside the Social Media Manager; you won’t have publishing access

Content Library (Assisted Organization)
-
Help organize existing assets in Brandfolder under your supervisor’s direct instruction—they make all categorization decisions
-Practice tagging and storing digital assets; everything gets reviewed and corrected before it’s finalized

Marketing Observation: Shadow the marketing team on email campaigns and studio events to see how it all fits together—you’re observing and learning, not running anything independently
